WP2 – PAX Research for open access reference collection
What it does:
WP2 builds the educational backbone of PAX. It investigates teachers’ needs, existing XR practices, pedagogical requirements, and theoretical frameworks (e.g., DigCompEdu, CAMIL, TPACK). All insights feed directly into WP3 and WP4.
Outputs include:
- D2.1 An analysis of diverse perspectives on teaching with XR resulting in concrete building blocks for XR-based educator professionalization accompanied with a relevant presentation
- An Open-access reference collection (D2.2) available at: https://www.zotero.org/groups/5690144/paxdatabase/items/B7UDTS8W/library
The database brings together a curated collection of high-quality references on XR in education and teacher training. It includes journal articles, conference papers, books, and other peer-reviewed sources that explore the theoretical, pedagogical, technological, and practical dimensions of XR integration in learning.
Only publications with a verified DOI or stable URL are included, ensuring that every entry is reliable, traceable, and academically trustworthy.
WP3 – PAX Framework for Teachers
What it does:
WP3 designs a competence framework that shows what teachers need to teach effectively with XR. It combines research, teacher workshops, and design thinking to map the skills educators and learners need in immersive environments. In short, WP3 creates the “map” of XR competences for teachers.
Outputs include:
- D3.1 PAX Framework for Teachers – 1st Draft
This draft presents the first complete version of the PAX Framework, including:- XR literacies for teachers
- The six key competence areas (professional engagement, XR design, teaching & learning in XR, assessment, empowering learners, facilitating XR literacies)
- The vision for the interactive online framework
- D3.2 Final XR framework for teachers
- D3.3 Theory building and further research results
Following our deliverables, the PAX XR-Compass has been developed and is now available in English, German, Greek and Czech language.
WP4 – PAX Guideline for XR Developers
What it does:
WP4 transforms the PAX Framework into practical guidance for developers, instructional designers, and interdisciplinary teams. It offers hands-on instructions, didactical examples, templates, and best practices for designing meaningful XR learning experiences. In short, WP4 turns PAX theory into practical, classroom-ready guidance.
Outputs include:
- D4.1 PAX Guideline for Developers
- D4.2 Didactical Guideline for XR Developers – PAX Developing Environment
- D4.3 Theory Building and Further Research
Our PAX Development Environment (PDE) is an online platform that helps educators and developers work together on XR (Extended Reality) projects. It provides useful tools, templates, and forms to make communication easier and more effective.
WP5 – Training Space
What it does:
WP5 brings PAX to life in schools and universities. It trains teachers, organizes pilot testing, collects feedback, and evaluates the framework and guidelines in real educational settings. In short, WP5 makes sure PAX is tested, improved, and validated with real teachers and learners.
Outputs include:
- D5.1 – PAX Training Focus Group
- D5.2 – PAX Training Space workshops 1-10
- D5.3 – PAX Training Space Environment
- D5.4 – PAX Training application
WP6 – PAX Refinement Hubs
What it does:
WP6 creates the PAX Refinement Hubs, collaborative spaces where teachers, trainers, developers, and partners come together to refine the PAX Framework and PAX Didactical Guideline. These hubs function as continuous feedback ecosystems, helping ensure that all PAX outputs remain practical, relevant, and aligned with real classroom needs.
They support national-level training activities, strengthen the PAX Training Hubs, and act as the bridge between piloting and the final consolidated results.
Outputs include:
- D6.1 – Data collection tools for quantitative and qualitative data
- D6.2 – Data analysis interpretation
- D6.3 – Refinement of the PAX-Framework (WP3)
- D6.4 – Refinement of the PAX-guideline (WP4)
- D6.5 – Refinement of the PAX-Space for Training (WP5)
